Mosaic Primary Care Network in Calgary has an immediate opening for an Addiction/ Mental Health Counsellor to help develop and implement culturally appropriate addiction and mental health programs for the Punjabi speaking community in east Calgary.  Verbal fluency in Punjabi, Hindi or Urdu is required.  Ideal applicant should demonstrate an understanding of the Punjabi culture and be passionate about addressing addiction and mental health issues in the Punjabi speaking community through education and treatment, in individual, family and group settings.

 

Relevant Degree or Diploma in the social science or health related field is required; Master’s degree with current professional registration is preferred.

Related counselling and work experience in the addictions/mental health field is an asset with preference given to candidates with five or more years of addictions group and individual counselling experience.  Focused local training in addiction treatment will be provided as needed.  A valid driver’s licence will be required, as some local travel may be involved, as well as a clearance of a criminal background check.  Candidates demonstrating a healthy lifestyle will be a best fit.  This is a regular full time (1.0 FTE) position with rate of pay to commensurate with qualifications and experience.

medically complex patient, and care of patients with chronic disease
•Improve coordination and integration with other health care services, including secondary,
tertiary, and long-term care through specialty care linkages to primary care
•Facilitate the greater use of multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive primary care
